I believe in helping people through a Faith based and practical counseling approach that responds to the needs of the whole person. I have a strong commitment to the strengthening of individuals, marriages, and families by promoting excellence in counseling.

I specialize in the treatment of PTSD disorders, addictions, and sexual abuse, and I am extensively trained in cognitive behavioral therapy as well as marriage and family therapy, along with weight loss nutritional coaching. My experience includes nutrition and health, anxiety disorders, sexual dysfunction, grief and crisis, spiritual and pastoral issues. If you struggle with, depression, anxiety, frustration, or anger issues. If you find yourself a victim of your circumstances, and you want to give up please don’t! Do you believe nothing can change for you? Stop that thinking, because that’s a lie! Life is a journey. If you have given up today is the day you restart your journey. Health in any form is not a destination because no one can be perfected in the natural. However, you can become comfortable and satisfied with the journey you are on and learn skills to propel yourself forward.

Practices such as play therapy, bibliotherapy, solution focused therapy, or a mixture of self help materials can challenge the way you see yourself and your situations. I typically work with children, teenagers, and woman.

I am a tenured school counselor in private practice. What I have learned as an educator aligns perfectly with my philosophy for counseling. An educated person seeks the solution an uneducated person can learn the solution. Both have the chance to be better members of society.

I’m a Christian faith-based counselor whose passion is working on women’s and family issues, as well as with children and parents struggling with parenting issues. My agenda is to empower individuals who have emotional, relational and spiritual struggles. I help motivate them to resolve their problems, as well as navigate their crossroads in life.

For the past 16 years I worked in a Christian ministry as an unofficial counselor of sorts. I have personally worked through grief and depression issues faced by the elderly as well as individuals with physical issues. I am able to provide them with the right coping skills and mechanisms to motivate and inspire them by 1) listening to and understanding what people have to say, and 2) taking a holistic approach with each client and creating an accepting environment for them.

I have been in Early Childhood Education for a long time. I have experience as a pre-school director, and have worked with children and families on a daily basis. Additionally, I have worked in HR, and am especially proficient at helping employees discover their strengths and transition between jobs. I also have a cogent understanding of the stress related issues that plague the top level.

To sum up, my strengths lie in working with parents and families, children and the elderly, as well as in managing employees. I help people who are having stress conflicts with their careers, as well as organizations looking to solve conflicts. I also aid people who suffer from depression and anxiety. My ultimate goal is to educate people to work with children and families to begin a community that grows based on family-centric values.

Mental health care should be affordable and excellent

South County Christian Counseling was the dream that Dr. Mary Jo Schneller conceived 20 plus years ago. Dr. Schneller wanted to offer services to help those individuals who were experiencing challenges and wanted counseling. She saw the need for a group that promoted healing for the whole person. She saw the need for an agency that bridged the gaps between state agencies and private Christian therapy.

Dr. Schneller is a firm advocate for affordable mental health and we do our best to provide excellent care at affordable rates. South County Christian does not currently take insurance but we do offer  super bills that can be sent to your insurances company. If your insurance accepts super-bills you can get reimbursement from your insurance company. If not South County offers competitive pricing for services.  We do offer reduced & sliding scale options. Our reduced fees are limited and require proof of income. We will do our best to work out an affordable rate.

We provide counseling for individuals, couples and premarital, families, and youth between 13 and 18 years of age.

Group counseling can be very beneficial for individuals seeking knowledge and healing on the same topics or issues. It allows for participants to learn from one another, provides helpful learning materials, and offers a place to not feel as alone in struggles.
Is your relationship not in the place you had hoped? Are you and your partner experiencing more tension and pain than in the past? Are you considering getting married, or are you already in the process and looking for premarital counseling?
